Light Festival for the First Time at Tanegashima Space Center

We will hold the Light Festival for the first time in the largest space center in Japan called Tanegashima Space Center. The theme of Tanegashima Light Festival 2023 is the fusion of nature, space and art. An art festival of light which interweaves scenery and the natural environment will unfold in three areas: the Space Center Area, the Minamitane Town Area and the Hamada Beach Area.Beautiful works of art which interweave light and shadows will color the night sky with the natural beauty of Tanegashima and the magnificent stage of the space center at Tanegashima Light Festival 2023. We are aiming for this event to provide visitors with excitement and surprises by maximizing the charms of Tanegashima.This event, our first attempt of a light festival, will serve as a crossroads where the beauty of nature, the mystery of the universe and the creativity of art meet. We hope that you will enjoy the world of the Tanegashima Light Festival 2023.

Opening Event
This will be the opening event of the light festival we will hold in a space center for the first time in Japan! You will be able to experience a fantastical world with lanterns floating up all at once.

Super Planetarium / Cave of Stars
This event will reproduce a sky with 10 million stars in a cave using the MEGASTAR-II device produced by Ohira Tech Ltd. An extraordinary space will appear where you can experience nature, healing and relaxation with your five senses in a unique space interwoven with the natural beauty of Tanegashima and internationally-recognized artificial beauty in the middle of night on one of the few occasions in a year when the new moon and the low tide of the spring tide overlap.
